This Kinder Bueno rocky road is quick and easy to make with only 4 ingredients! It's the perfect balance of crunchy and chewy and it makes a super indulgent dessert that's suitable for any occasion!

It's been TOO long since I last made a Kinder dessert- would you believe it's one of my favourite chocolate bars?! Since I was at a loose end between Valentine's and Easter baking, I thought now would be the perfect time to share my Kinder Bueno rocky road recipe with you!
The base is made from creamy Kinder chocolate and it's packed full of digestive biscuits, mini marshmallows, and Kinder Bueno chunks. It's the PERFECT treat for anyone who likes the hazelnut and chocolate combo, plus it's a bit more interesting than your standard rocky road.
For anyone who's new to home baking, I've written a post below to help you out. This includes my top tips, ingredient notes and step-by-step photos. If you prefer the quick, bullet-pointed version, feel free to scroll down to the recipe card at the end of the post. Enjoy!
Ingredient Notes
- Kinder chocolate: Kinder chocolate gives this rocky road that signature milky flavour and creamy texture. You'll need 450g which is around 22 snack bars. If you prefer a budget option, you can use semi-sweet chocolate instead, with some additional ingredients. The base for my usual rocky road recipe is 300g semi-sweet chocolate melted with 100g butter and 3 tablespoons golden syrup.
- Digestive biscuits: Digestives have quite a neutral flavour so they help balance out the overall sweetness in the recipe. Graham crackers, rich tea biscuits or shortbread would all work well too. Just make sure to crush them into medium-sized chunks, we don't too many crumbs in there!
- Mini marshmallows: For a pop of colour and to add a bit of chew. I used white marshmallows for aesthetic purposes but you can use pink or a mix of both, depending on your preference.
- Kinder Bueno bars: These are the best part of this recipe in my opinion! I recommend just dividing them into their natural segments rather than chopping them up. This ensures you'll get a delicious dose of hazelnut cream and wafer in every bite! Don't add them on top of the rocky road unless you're planning to eat it all on the same day, as they'll go soggy quite quickly.
Equipment
- Saucepan: To melt the Kinder chocolate over the stove. If you don't have one, you can use a microwave-safe bowl, but be careful and stir frequently so that it doesn't burn.
- 8x8-inch tin: This is my go-to tin for nice thick rocky road bars. You can use my cake pan converter if you'd like to make a bigger batch, or for individual servings, put spoonfuls into paper cake cases.
- Baking paper: To make it easy to remove the rocky road from the tin. I recommend leaving a bit hanging over each edge, then you'll be able to easily lift it out in one go.
- Large mixing bowl: To mix all of the ingredients together.
- Utensils: You'll need a wooden spoon for mixing and a sharp knife for cutting. I also sometimes like to use a silicone spatula when pressing the mixture into the tin as it doesn't stick to it as much as a wooden spoon does.

How to make Kinder Bueno rocky road
Step 1: Start by lining an 8x8-inch tin with baking paper. Set it to one side for now.
Step 2: Break 450g of Kinder chocolate into segments and add to a saucepan. Place the saucepan over low heat and stir gently until it's fully melted, then leave it to cool for about 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can put the chocolate in the microwave, stirring it every 30 seconds or so until melted.
Step 3: Place 100g of digestive biscuits into a large bowl then crush them up into medium-sized pieces with your hands. Don't make them too small, otherwise they'll absorb too much chocolate and make it difficult to mix.
Step 4: Break 6 Kinder Bueno bars (12 sticks) into segments then add them to the bowl along with 100g mini marshmallows. Mix briefly to combine.

Step 5: Pour the melted Kinder chocolate into the bowl and mix well until all of the biscuits and marshmallows are evenly coated. Transfer it to your lined tin and press it down into place.

Step 6: Top with more marshmallows and Kinder chocolate pieces if you like.

Step 7: Refrigerate your rocky road for 1 hour then remove it from the tin, cut it into squares and enjoy! I like to cut mine into 16 squares but you can make your slices bigger or smaller if you prefer.
Top Tips
- Let the melted chocolate cool for 10 minutes before you add it in with the dry ingredients. This will prevent the marshmallows and Kinder Bueno pieces from melting as you mix.
- Use a mixture of white and milk chocolate Bueno bars for a more interesting look. You can even drizzle some melted white chocolate over the top before refrigerating if you're feeling extra fancy!
- Warm your knife before cutting into your rocky road. You can do this by running it under boiling water and wiping it dry between each cut. This will help to melt the chocolate ever-so-slightly and prevent the slices from breaking as you cut into them.
FAQs
If you keep it in an airtight container in the fridge, this will last for about a week, if you can resist it for that long! I'd recommend not putting Bueno pieces directly on top of the rocky road as they will go soggy after a day or two.
Yes, slices can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months. You can also freeze the whole slab if you wrap it tightly in clingfilm first. To defrost it, transfer it to the fridge and leave it overnight.
Yes, although your rocky road will have a bit less of that classic Kinder flavour, you can use white, dark or milk chocolate instead of Kinder chocolate.
Absolutely. Some tasty ideas are chopped hazelnuts, salty pretzels, white chocolate chips or popcorn. You can even add dried fruit like raisins or cherries if you fancy!
